Real Aussie Slang

Apples n’ Pears = Chair? Huh? Can we have some Australian Slang Translation please? Stacey discovers “Real Aussie Slang” at the Belleview in Cairns Australia. Dave takes her through what a typical “Westie” would sound like. He gives us the slang, then the Australian slang translation! Watch and see what a “twist n’ curl” is!

    Hi Stacey

I was at Mario’s on Sunday 10 January. We had a table of nine and you looked after us marvellously from noon til late (in fact, I think you left before us). The occasion was an annual reunion of my Teachers’ College friends. We are all retired now.

I said I would look at your most interesting site and here I am. It is great. Keep up the good work (ex-teacher comment!).

Here is my contribution to your Aussie speak:

If some food item is particularly bad to eat, “it would kill a brown dog” and you do not want to be “brown bread” – not for a very long time yet anyway. Well I must “hit the frog and toad” – hit the road/leave.

    Cheers

    Terry

Hahaha thanks SO much Terry! Love the contributions! You guys looked to be having a blast!
Hope you’re enjoying retirement in this beautiful country!
